Visa applicants to be interviewed in their own country.

On September 6, 2025, the Department of State announced changes in the visa interview process. Effective immediately, visa applicants are required to get interviewed in the country where they are nationals, with the exception of a few countries where there is no consular section or U.S. Embassy.

Visa applicants, however, may be interviewed in a third country if they have either citizenship or legal residency in such a country.
